Cyrus the Great (580-529 BCE), a monumental figure in human history, holds the distinction of being the first ruler to be referred to as "The Great." As the founder of the Achaemenid Empire, he was the son of Cambyses the Elder, a vassal Persian king of the Median Empire in Anshan, and Mandana, a Median princess and daughter of Astyages. His lineage, part of the Achaemenid Dynasty, had governed the Persian kingdom of Anshan for several generations in what is now Khuzestan Province in southwestern Iran.

The name "Cyrus," a transliteration of the Greek Kυρoς, is derived from the Persian Koroush or Khorvash, meaning "like the sun." In Persian, "khour" signifies "sun," while "vash" serves as a suffix denoting similarity. This poetic and meaningful name underscores the light and warmth he brought to his empire, unifying cultures and peoples under a banner of tolerance and innovation.

This detailed bronze sculpture celebrates the legacy of Cyrus the Great, cast using the ancient "Lost Wax Method," ensuring exquisite craftsmanship. Stained in a rich brown patina and made entirely by hand, this 100% bronze artwork pays homage to a ruler whose vision and achievements continue to shine brightly through the annals of history.
