Own a piece of Renaissance history with this stunning bronze replica of Michelangelo's David. Created between 1501 and 1504, this masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture depicts the Biblical hero David and is a favorite subject in the art of Florence. Originally commissioned as one of a series of statues of prophets to be positioned along the roofline of the east end of Florence Cathedral, the statue was instead placed in a public square outside the Palazzo della Signoria, the seat of civic government in Florence.

Due to the nature of the hero it represents, the statue soon came to symbolize the defense of civil liberties embodied in the Florentine Republic. An independent city-state threatened on all sides by more powerful rival states and by the hegemony of the Medici family. The eyes of David, with a warning glare, were turned towards Rome.

Crafted using the ancient method of lost-wax casting, this relic work of art has been stained with a brown patina finish for preservation. David stands upon a variegated black marble base bearing the artist Michelangelo's signature. Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni (6 March 1475 – 18 February 1564) was a master of many trades, including painting, sculpture, architecture, poetry, and engineering. His versatility in the disciplines he took up was of such a high order that he is often considered a contender for the title of the archetypal Renaissance man, along with fellow Italian Leonardo da Vinci.

With its intricate details and rich history, this bronze replica of Michelangelo's David is a true masterpiece of Renaissance art. Add it to your collection today and experience the legacy of one of the greatest artists of all time.
